Car Fire Damages Mobile Home

On Saturday January 28th at 11:41 PM High Point firefighters responded to a vehicle fire at 500 Belk/Sikes Lane. Firefighters arrived to find a midsize car completely engulfed in flames, with the heat from the fire melting the vinyl siding on a nearby mobile home and igniting a grass fire. Due to the extent of fire damage neither the point of origin nor the ignition source was able to be determined. A male subject was taken into custody by law enforcement for possible hit and run to a mailbox with the vehicle, and it's believed that damage from the crash may have been a contributing factor to the ignition of the vehicle.
