Car Hits Guard Rail

Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 8:21 p.m.

High Point Fire District and Lifeguard EMS responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of S.C. 151 and Sims Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found that a car had crossed S.C. 151, struck a guardrail, traveled beneath it, and then collided with a tree, causing major damage to the front of the vehicle.

The guardrail was torn loose from several support posts and came to rest behind the vehicle. The driver was able to exit the car and declined ambulance transport. Engines 31 and 11 established blocking positions and placed traffic cones to close the outside south bound lane of S.C. 151, creating a safe work area for responders. Firefighters then used hydraulic cutters and a reciprocating saw to remove a section of guardrail and a damaged post so the tow truck could safely remove the vehicle. The crash was investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
