High Point Fire District responded to a field fire endangering several homes along SC-9. Upon arrival, Engine 51 found the head of a wind-driven fire rapidly approaching a residence. Firefighters deployed a hose line to extinguish the advancing flames, then repositioned to join Engine 21 in attacking the fire’s left flank using deck guns.

Engine 11 utilized its deck gun to protect more homes on the fire’s left flank. Brush 23 was deployed to wet down the entire perimeter to prevent further spread.

The cause of the fire remains unknown but appears to have originated near the highway.
