High Point Fire Department responded to a report of a truck fire at Smith Trucking on Highway 151. Upon arrival, Engine 11 found a trailer loaded with cloth fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters deployed a hose line to attack the fire and a second hose line to protect a nearby shop building.

Additional support arrived from Engine 51, Engine 21, and Tanker 22, supplying water to Engine 11. After the main body of the fire was knocked down, firefighters switched to a water-foam solution to soak deep into the cloth and smother any remaining hot spots.
