Vehicle Fire Damages Home

High Point Fire District responded to a vehicle fire report endangering a residence on Twin Brook Lane. Engine 11 arrived on scene to find a pickup truck fully engulfed in flames. The intense heat from the fire was causing the vinyl siding of the home to begin melting.

Firefighters deployed a hose line to cool the affected siding, then shifted efforts to extinguishing the blaze consuming the pickup truck. As the fire had damaged the hood release mechanism, firefighters utilized the "Jaws of Life" to access the engine compartment.

The vehicle owner explained that he was in the process of draining the gas tank to install a new fuel pump when the gas ignited.
