Scrap Yard Fire

Carolina Scrap Iron, 1425 S. Pearl St.

The volunteers of High Point Fire responded in 100 degree temperatures to a reported fire at Carolina Scrap Iron, located at 1425 South Pearl Street. Upon arrival, Engine 11 and Engine 21 found the contents of an open top trailer fully involved in flames.

Firefighters from Engine 11 deployed a hose line and began fire suppression efforts as a loader was brought in to remove burning scrap material from the trailer. Engine 11 then used its deck gun to further extinguish the fire.

Engine 21 provided water supply by shuttling water from a hydrant at the intersection of Pearl Street and Troy Road to the incident scene.

At this time, the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
