The volunteers of High Point Fire District responded to a brush fire on Coon Creek Road, braving temperatures that soared above 100 degrees. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that a controlled land clearing fire had breached a fire break and ignited the nearby wood line.

Brush trucks 23 and 13 deployed their front nozzles and hose lines to suppress the advancing fire in the woods. To ensure the fire would not reignite, a wide perimeter near the wood line was thoroughly saturated with water. Engines 11, 21, and 51 provided water supply to the brush trucks throughout the incident.
