High Point Fire District responded to a vehicle fire on Providence Church Road.

Engine 51 arrived to find an SUV with fire involving the engine compartment and front passenger area. Crews operated Engine 51’s deck gun to knock down the main body of the fire, then advanced a handline from Engine 51 to fully extinguish remaining fire and overhaul hot spots. Engines 11 and 31 established blocking positions in the roadway to provide a protected working area for firefighters.

The driver reported that the vehicle’s engine temperature warning light illuminated. After stopping to investigate, the driver observed smoke and fire under the hood, and call 911.
