High Point Fire District responded to a reported camper fire on Gene Blakeney Road just off Landsford Road.
Due to a language barrier, telecommunicators at the 911 center worked through an interpreter to obtain an accurate address and description of the incident. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a locked gate, which had to be forced open, resulting in a brief delay in access to the property.
Firefighters located a fifth‑wheel camper in the edge of the woods that was fully involved in fire. The fire had extended into stacked wood fencing and was beginning to damage nearby vehicles. Engine 41 deployed two hose lines to attack the fire.
Engines 11 and 31 and Tanker 12 provided water supply by shuttling water from a hydrant located at Landsford Road and Highway 207.
The property owner stated the fire was caused by an overturned electric heater.
