High Point Fire District responded to a fire alarm activation at Central High School on Zion Church Road.
Engines 21 and 51 arrived on scene to find the alarm sounding with no visible smoke or fire. Firefighters accessed the roof using a ladder and utilized a thermal imaging camera to inspect all roof‑mounted HVAC units for signs of excessive heat. Crews also conducted an interior search of the school and detected a burning electrical odor near the vocational area of the building.
The odor was traced to an HVAC unit in one classroom. Firefighters shut off power to the unit at the circuit breaker, which caused the odor to dissipate and the alarm to reset. No fire was found, and no injuries were reported.
