Grass Fire Endangers Home

Thursday, February 12, 2026 – 3:17 p.m.

The High Point Fire District responded Thursday afternoon to a reported grass fire on JL Green Lane.

Upon arrival, Brush 23 encountered a wind‑driven grass fire threatening a nearby mobile home and extending toward the wood line. Firefighters deployed the apparatus’ front turret and successfully extinguished the fire before it could ignite the mobile home or spread further into the wooded area.

Engine 51 arrived on scene and established a water supply to refill Brush 23.

The fire was determined to have started when wind‑driven embers from a rubbish fire ignited the surrounding lawn. No injuries were reported.
