High Point Fire District responded Friday afternoon to a grass fire on Guess Road that burned approximately one-quarter acre before being contained by crews.

Engine 31 and Brush 23 arrived to find an estimated one-quarter acre of grass burning. Brush 23 used its front turret and a hose line to extinguish the fire while Engine 31 provided additional water supply.

The homeowner told responders the fire started while burning a bag of trash and cardboard. Crews reminded the homeowner that a burn ban was in effect and that outdoor burning is not permitted during the ban.
