Landing Zone

Walmart DC on US-601 North

Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at approximately 1:13 p.m.

High Point Fire responded to the area in front of the Walmart Distribution Center to establish a landing zone for a burn patient being transported by Lifeguard EMS.

High Point Engine 51 and Engine 21 were positioned to block the area and create a safe landing zone for the incoming medical helicopter. Firefighters also walked the landing area to check for foreign debris that could pose a hazard to the aircraft.

Lifeguard EMS arrived on scene, followed by a Meducare helicopter. Firefighters assisted EMS personnel and the flight crew with transferring the patient from the ambulance to the helicopter for transport to a burn center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
