High Point Fire District firefighters responded after a severe storm uprooted a large tree and sent it crashing onto the roof of a home.

When crews arrived, they found that the fallen tree had damaged the roof and that several limbs had punctured the structure, allowing rainwater to enter the home.

Firefighters used the district’s tower ladder truck to gain access above the tree, where they cut the trunk and limbs into sections with chainsaws. Once each section was cut, crews used the winch from Brush Truck 23 to pull the debris from the roof.

After the tree was removed, firefighters cleared remaining debris from the roof using a leaf blower and brooms. Crews then secured tarps over the damaged areas to help prevent additional water damage.

No injuries were reported.
