The High Point Fire District responded Saturday afternoon to a report of a brush and grass fire on Pine Grove Road that threatened a nearby mobile home.
Engine 21 was first on scene and found a fast moving wind‑driven grass and brush fire burning adjacent to the residence. Radiant heat from the fire had begun to melt exterior trim on the home and was also melting window blinds inside the structure.
Firefighters deployed the deck gun from Engine 21 to knock down the head of the fire closest to the home. Engine 41 arrived shortly thereafter and advanced a hose line behind the residence to attack the right flank of the fire. Brush 23 addressed the left flank, while Engine 51, Tanker 12, and Tanker 22 supplied additional water to support suppression efforts.
The fire was determined to have originated from wind‑driven embers from a neighbor’s debris fire. The incident is currently under investigation by the South Carolina Forestry Commission.
No injuries were reported.
