Woods Fire Endangers Homes

The High Point Fire District responded Saturday afternoon to a report of a woods fire threatening nearby structures on Arkorful Lane.

Engine 31 arrived on scene and found that a controlled brush fire had escaped and extended into the surrounding woods. Engine 31 deployed its deck gun to knock down the head of the fire while Brush 23 utilized its front turret to contain the flanks of the fire.

Firefighters also used water can extinguishers to suppress areas of the fire that were inaccessible by apparatus. Engine 51 and Tanker 12 arrived on scene and established a water supply to support fire suppression operations.
