Grass-Woods Fire

The High Point Fire District responded to a report of a grass fire on Hoover Myers Ln. The incident began when windblown embers from a homeowner’s barrel of burning household garbage ignited nearby grass, causing the fire to spread rapidly across the driveway and into adjacent woods.

Upon arrival, firefighters found approximately two acres of grass and woods ablaze, with an outbuilding beginning to ignite and several homes at risk. Engine 51 and Engine 21 attacked the head of the grass fire which was quickly extinguished using deck guns. Simultaneously, Engine 11 and Brush 13 extinguished the woods fire, with Tanker 12 supplying additional water to support the operation.
