The volunteers of the High Point Fire District responded to the report of a tractor trailer fire on Highway 151. Upon arrival, firefighters found a trailer loaded with refrigerated food fully engulfed in flames. The intense fire had also ignited a fast-moving, wind-driven wildfire that spread rapidly through a nearby pasture.

Thanks to the quick actions of the truck driver, the tractor was uncoupled and moved away from the burning trailer. Firefighters from Engine 11 deployed two hose lines to attack the burning trailer, while Engine 31 and Engine 51 focused on containing and extinguishing the wildfire. Engine 31 successfully suppressed the left flank of the wildfire, and Engine 51 extinguished the head and right flank, preventing further spread.

Once the main body of the trailer fire was under control, crews switched to a water foam solution to saturate and seal the burning food, ensuring complete extinguishment. Firefighters returned to their stations at 2:30 AM and continued working until 4:00 AM, cleaning and refilling air packs and washing and repacking 600 feet of fire hose.

Preliminary investigation suggests the fire originated in the area of the trailer suspension.
